what are the secrets of montemerano?

  1. the magic of Piazza del Castello.
  2. the Church of San Giorgio.
  3. Caino, a starry evening

The Magic Of Piazza del Castello:

The village is a real pearl and is populated by intimate streets that smell of history and that promptly sprout in breathtaking corners, such as the squares of the Antico Frantoio, San Martino, San Giorgio, del Ritiro, del Forno and that of the Campanile. Another breathtaking square is that of the Castle, which seems to have been painted by a magical and refined brush: the exposed stone buildings feed on arched loggias, terraces, windows and flowers, returning a fairytale place. Here, the building characterized by a quadrangular tower is famous. It is a palace that, over the centuries, belonged to the Aldobrandeschi, the Baschi, the Sienese vicars and, finally, the seat of the Municipality of Montemerano from the fifteenth century until 1783, the year in which it was no longer recognized as an administrative body.

The Church Of San Giorgio:

Montemerano houses the Church of San Giorgio, which was consecrated in 1430 despite the construction dating back to the fourteenth century. This is one of the most important Christian buildings in the southern Maremma.

Caino, a Starry evening:

We are in an area rich in culinary tradition, on the other hand like every corner of the Bel Paese. the restaurant da caino (2 Michelin stars) is a real excellence in the Maremma. in fact there are not many starred restaurants in the Maremma. Tasting Caino’s Menu you can taste dishes based on the Maremma tradition, reworked and studied by the chef valeria piccini.
